So do I have this right?

What we now call Fleets will be called Squadrons and these Squadrons will make up the new Fleets?

So 20-50 ships in a Squadron how many squadrons in a Fleet?

So we will be able to assign individual Squadrons to do specific tasks (Picket, Supply, Trade, Scout) or call them all back to the Fleet for a massive event? (Assault, Defense, Invasion)? Now I could get to like this change as long as the 'Fleet' when together fight as one unit and not individual Squadrons (small Fleets)

OR was this one of the suggestions and not what was originally planed? If this was a suggestion maybe it needs looked into I really like this idea. It breaks down a fleet into individual functioning units but keeps the concept of massive fleets at that rate the number of FLEETS could be reduced because of the number of Squadrons available So if the limit on Fleets is say 10 and the limit of Squadrons in that Fleet is 20 and the limit of Ships in each Squadron is 50 well there you go that's 200 Squadrons and 10,000 ships.

I would like to think in this case. To issue a global command to the fleet TF-1. WHICH IS MADE UP OF 10 SQUADRONS.
SQD_1 is Command Squadron 5Carriers(with figthers), 10 frigates, 5explorers Location GHI123
SQd_2 is Intercept Squadron 15 Carriers(with fighters) 4 Destroyers 1scout loaction GFL333
_

_
_
SQD_10 Recon Squadron 10 escort carriers(plus ftrs.) 10 scouts Location FLP111
SCt_1 location FLP11113
SCT_2 FLP11133
_
_
SCT_10 FLP11148

a GLOBAL ORDER HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR FLEET TF-1 TO MOVE TO SECTOR HOM AND DEFEND OR SCOUT OR ATTACK.
Depending on the Movement importance(i.e. immediate or asap or after completion of prior orders). The ships will travel travel to their squadrons then the squadrons will travel to the new location . Depending on the orders importance the arriving squadrons may rally until the fleet has arrived in it's entirety then carryout the order or commence as the squadrons arrive.

I was thinking that squadrons could operate independently or be attached to a fleet. If independent and that is any squadron not attached to a fleet, then they attempt to complete the action orders given. If attached to a fleet, the fleet gives the orders and the squadrons move with the fleet and perform their assigned (specific) tasks as required by the fleet order. Squadrons attached to the fleet would have several functions from which to choose from as their part of the strategic fleet order. Some squadrons may be assigned to convoy escort, missile strike, air assault v ground, bombardment, etc. Squadrons would be required to have a mission assignment to be assigned to a fleet.

Once assigned, they are at the mercy of fleet command and move, engage, defend, etc. using their squadron assignments based on the fleet order. Order types for fleet and squadrons need to be flushed as well as numbers. However, in this way, you can specialize your squadrons to your fleet mission. Squadron and by default ships within the squadrons will engage/perform their assigned tasks based on tactical priorities that is established by the fleet order chosen.

Once squadrons are assigned to a fleet, they can't be given any individual orders unless you remove them from the fleet. Only independent squadrons receive independent orders, such as picket duty or exploration, etc.

So, if we are talking squadrons and fleets, I'm assuming we still can move individual ships or must a squadron be created to move an individual ship?
