Now that I got past the first page of questions.
You are kind of correct either your pilots have no guts,
Or they are trying diligently to help the young empire keep from losing their investment.

Actually, it's quite realistic. If an incoming fighter bomber or even a heavy bomber is detected far enough out and counter measures are fired at the incoming planes they can be destroyed without launching their load. You just need to build smaller fleets and have some more stealth tec behind them.

I believe that forts have a tonnage class of 10...

Edit...Yup, found where fort tonnage class is listed. It is in the "COMMON PLANETARY BUILD CODES" near the end of the rule book.

Yes if ALL the incoming were destroyed but my first fleet got close enough to destroy forts and enemy interceptors with ship's fire AND 23 ships survived to move off into deep space. If they were close enough to fire phaser, blasters, or BB guns to destroy forts, where is the logic in not being able to fire their missile at the same time. The next missile fleet managed to "Fleet 121 reports orbit achieved around XXX11111", destroy another fort and enemy interceptors and escape with 35 ships. Yea, many of the ships were beaten to hell and back but they survived. And someone never said, "Ya know...since we got this far, why don't we just fire off them blasted missiles we been toting around."

Yes, I know, maybe this is how it was programmed long, long ago. And the spaghetti is probably so entangled one must be desperate to pull on one string for fear it will explore in a million different directions. But for sake of the Strike Beagle's memory, don't carry this over to the new online game!!

Oh, and they destroyed SOME of the forts not all. The second fleet strike (a different fleet) against HMU also didn't launch.

And again, what is the tonnage class of a Fort?

Tonnage class of a fort is 10. Tonnage class of a Fort Ship is 0 (unplaced)

Planet has good natural resources. Projects maximum exports at 72
Colonial Governor on XXX12345 request more colonists to exploit resources
Colonial Governor on XXX12345 reports 18 ready for export.

Sooo....checking on my assumptions (be they ever so dreaded).

Condition is that I tried to buy 50 units from the colony.

The MAX export, 72, is IF I had the all the forts, pop, etc., that the planet could support. But, at the present time with what is currently on the planet the most I can pickup is 18.

Is this a correct assumption (be they ever so dreaded)?

An ASSUMPTION AVOIDANCE question, so as to avoid being the south end of a north bound mule.

When one issues a MERGE WITH ALIEN FLEET order, I am assuming that the first fleet numbered is the alien fleet and the second fleet number is your fleet. So in essence you are giving your alien friend ships for his amusement and usage. And I assume (be in ever do dreaded) the alien merge order works just like the regular merge order in that the merging ships are added to the back-end of the receiving fleet.

Are any of my assumption wrong?
