Sorry for the problem. The web server decided today would be a dandy day to do updates even though we have it set to be manually started so things like this won't happen. But I think there was a power problem that might have caused the issue, even though again we have battery backup for several hours. Problem started at 6:30 Thursday night and continued all day. The web server is offline now as we're fixing it. There was a web service that got stuck running in the background, probably as a result of the updates and we need to shut everything down and reset it.
Not my ideal solution but the best available.
